Will GTA Online progress or money transfer to GTA 6?

Nothing has been announced about GTA Online progress, GTA$ or property carrying into Grand Theft Auto VI. There is no announced online mode in GTA VI for that progress to land in, so the question has no confirmed answer yet. Take-Two's own pre-order release describes the game as a single-player experience and says nothing about migration.¹²

What Rockstar has done before

Rockstar's transfer history is worth knowing, because it sets the shape of what the company tends to allow. When Grand Theft Auto V moved to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, Rockstar offered a one-time migration of story mode and GTA Online progress from the previous console generation. Why a full carry-over is unlikely

Importing a decade of accumulated GTA$ into a brand new economy would break the new game's progression on day one, which is why publishers usually reset. The more common industry compromise is cosmetic recognition: a badge, a livery, an unlocked outfit for veteran accounts. Why people expect a transfer at all

The expectation comes from the last console transition, where Rockstar did let players carry GTA Online progress forward, so a whole generation of players learned that Rockstar moves saves when hardware changes. The important difference is that those migrations stayed inside Grand Theft Auto V. A new numbered game is not a hardware transition.³⁴
