Vice City International Airport in GTA 6: what the VCI signs actually confirm

Vice City International Airport is one of those locations everyone assumes is in the game and almost nobody can cite properly. What is genuinely confirmed is narrow: the abbreviation VCI appears on road signs in both trailers, and aircraft appear constantly in the footage¹².

What the trailers actually show

GamesRadar's Trailer 1 breakdown lists the VCI airport among the location names visible on road signs, alongside Kelly County, Catalan Boulevard, Vice Beaches, Port VC and the district names Stockyard and Downtown¹. The same breakdown catalogues the aircraft on screen: jumbo jets, biplanes, seaplanes, helicopters and amphibious helicopters¹. Trailer 2 repeats the signage, with VCI Airport appearing among the destinations Jason passes while driving².

Rockstar's own screenshot gallery includes an image captioned as a jet flying over a sign that reads Vice City, which is about as close as the official material gets to showing the airport itself⁵.

The real Miami International

Miami International is one of the busiest airports in the United States and sits inland, west of downtown. Community mapping places a Vice City International Airport in the fictional county they read as Miami-Dade⁴. Rockstar has not stated a real-world counterpart, and the name is generic enough that the parallel is assumed rather than proven⁴³.

What the name implies

Vice City International is the expansion the community settled on for the VCI abbreviation on those signs, rather than a name Rockstar has written out¹². The series has form here: the 2002 game had its own airport, and Rockstar has been reusing Vice City names such as Ocean Beach, Washington Beach and the Ocean View Hotel throughout GTA 6's marketing³. An international airport also fits the city Rockstar is selling, one built on cruise ships, tourism and money moving in and out⁵.

Community mapping efforts that swept Street View imagery of the Miami area while building unofficial GTA 6 maps have generally placed VCI in roughly the same relative position as the real Miami International Airport, inland and west of the beachfront districts, though that positioning comes from the same unofficial mapping work flagged elsewhere on this page and not from anything Rockstar has published⁴.

What is only leak material

Reporting on the August 2026 leaks mentions maps showing multiple airfields across Leonida, including a smaller one in the Keys, but PC Gamer explicitly flags that material as unofficial and speculative³. Take-Two responded to the leaked material with copyright takedowns, and the footage is reportedly from an older development build³. None of that should be treated as fact about the finished game³.

Rockstar's screenshot of a jet flying over a Vice City sign is composed as a widescreen establishing shot rather than an airport tour, which is consistent with how sparingly the studio has treated VCI compared with named shops and characters elsewhere in the same gallery⁵. That restraint makes VCI one of the more open questions on the map: everyone can see it exists, and almost nobody can say what it actually offers players¹³.

What is still unknown

Rockstar has not shown the airport's terminals, has not confirmed that it is enterable or that aircraft are stealable there, and has not published a map placing it³¹. The airport does not appear anywhere in the Only in Leonida description of Vice City⁵.

Gameplay hints

Trailer 2 shows Jason and Lucia hanging out of a moving plane at one point, which PC Gamer flagged among the trailer's more grounded, hustle-driven set pieces rather than a pure spectacle shot². Combined with the seaplanes, biplanes and helicopters already logged in Trailer 1, that points to small aircraft being a real part of GTA 6's traversal options, likely centred on VCI even if not exclusive to it¹². Whether jumbo jets themselves can be flown by the player has not been confirmed either way¹².

Businesses, signs and brands spotted

No airline, terminal or ground-handling brand has been named for VCI. That is consistent with how Rockstar treats most transport infrastructure in its marketing: the MetroRail-style train shown in Trailer 2 is also unbranded, and the only named transport-adjacent business in Leonida so far, the Paradise Garage in Watson Bay, is nowhere near the airport³². The absence of any named airline is itself notable given how specific Rockstar has been elsewhere, naming a gun store, a bank sticker and a sandwich brand in the same batch of marketing material³.

How it compares to Vice City (2002)

The original 2002 game had a small, mostly decorative Escobar International Airport. VCI, spelled out across signage in two separate trailers and tied to a skyline full of jumbo jets, seaplanes and helicopters, reads as a considerably larger undertaking, in line with how much bigger Vice City itself appears to have become since 2002¹².
