GTA 6 accessibility: what is known and what to expect

Rockstar has published no accessibility feature list for GTA 6. What the store listings show today, and what its recent games offered

Updated September 3, 2026 · 7 min read · 6 sources

There is no accessibility information for Grand Theft Auto VI, and we would rather say that clearly than fill the gap with a wishlist. Rockstar's official site for the game covers trailers, editions and setting, with no settings or accessibility section, and Take-Two's pre-order announcement does not mention accessibility either.25

What the storefronts show today

PlayStation publishes accessibility tags for games whose developers supply them. As of 3 September 2026, the GTA VI Ultimate Edition listing carries no accessibility notices at all. Its compatibility information is limited to in-game purchases being optional, offline play, a single player, PS5 Pro Enhanced, Remote Play support, and DualSense vibration and trigger effects.1

The DualSense line is worth reading carefully, because haptics and adaptive triggers matter in both directions. They can add useful non-visual feedback, and they can also be a barrier for players with certain motor or sensory needs. Both are usually adjustable in system settings, but Rockstar has not confirmed in-game toggles.1

What Rockstar's recent games have offered

This is history, and it is not a promise about GTA VI. Accessibility reporting on Grand Theft Auto V records the basics you would expect from its era: control remapping, aim assist and subtitles, without full screen reader support, blind-friendly navigation or extensive interface scaling. Small on-screen text has been a long-standing complaint across Rockstar's catalogue.3

Red Dead Redemption 2, Rockstar's most recent original release before GTA VI, expanded subtitle handling with contrast options, though it stopped short of full captions for non-speech audio. That is the trajectory the studio was on when it started this project.3

What the Extended Look hinted at

Nothing was presented as an accessibility feature, but a few systems shown have accessibility side effects. Coverage describes dialogue options for defusing encounters, a non-lethal targeting system, and a focus mechanic that highlights points of interest. Highlighting and non-lethal routes can reduce reliance on precise aiming and fast reactions, which helps some players even when it is not designed as an accessibility option.4

Not yet confirmed: subtitle size and background options, colourblind modes, control remapping, aim assist strength, difficulty and assist settings, camera shake and motion options, haptics toggles, and screen reader support. Rockstar has announced none of these for GTA 6.

What to do if accessibility is a deciding factor

  • Watch the PlayStation Store listing. Accessibility tags there are supplied by the publisher and can appear closer to launch.1
  • Watch the Rockstar Newswire for a settings or features post before release.2
  • Do not pre-order on the assumption a specific option will exist. None have been confirmed.5
  • Treat any published GTA 6 accessibility feature list dated before launch as speculation, because Rockstar has not released one.2

We will rewrite this page the day Rockstar or the storefronts publish real accessibility information, and we will say plainly which features are present and which are missing.12

Why the silence is not necessarily bad news

Publishers frequently supply storefront accessibility tags late, sometimes only days before release, because the settings list is finalised near the end of development. An empty tag list in early September for a November game is normal rather than damning. It does mean nobody can currently promise you anything, which is the practical point.1

Take-Two's pre-order announcement, the most detailed official document about the game so far, covers editions, bonuses and pre-load timing without touching settings of any kind. That is consistent with information that simply has not been published yet.5

What is confirmed versus what is precedent

Confirmed: nothing. No accessibility feature list, no settings menu screenshot, no storefront tag beyond DualSense hardware support.12 Precedent: Rockstar's own recent catalogue, Grand Theft Auto V and Red Dead Redemption 2, shipped the basics, remapping, aim assist, subtitles with some contrast options, without deep accommodations like full screen reader support or extensive interface scaling.3 That history is the only honest baseline available for expectations, and it is a modest one.

GTA Online history that matters here

It is worth remembering how many people this actually touches. GTA VI follows a franchise entry, Grand Theft Auto V, that Take-Two's own results describe as still among its largest net bookings contributors more than a decade after release.6 A studio operating at that scale reaches players with an enormous range of needs, which is exactly why the gap between GTA V's fairly basic accessibility offering and what a 2026 open-world release could offer is worth watching closely rather than assuming the best.

Mistakes people make

  • Assuming a modern release automatically means modern accessibility options. Storefront tags for GTA VI show none published yet.1
  • Reading DualSense haptic support as an accessibility feature by default. It can help or hinder depending on the player, and toggle options have not been confirmed.1
  • Pre-ordering specifically because of an assumed feature, then discovering it was never announced.5
  • Dismissing gameplay systems like highlighting or non-lethal takedowns as irrelevant to accessibility just because Rockstar has not labelled them that way.4

What would change this page

A published settings list, updated storefront accessibility tags, or a dedicated Newswire post would each move this from silence to information, and we would rewrite this page to state plainly which features exist and which do not.12

Related questions answered

Does a franchise this large usually publish accessibility details before launch? Practice varies across the industry, and Rockstar's own history suggests these details tend to land close to release rather than months ahead, so an empty listing in September for a November game at this scale is not unusual.13 Is there pressure on Rockstar to do better than GTA V here? There is no confirmed commitment either way, but the audience GTA VI reaches, following a franchise this financially significant, is large enough that any accessibility choices will be felt widely.6

None of this is a criticism of Rockstar in advance. Publishers routinely finalise accessibility settings late in development, and a blank storefront tag list in early September for a game shipping in November is normal rather than a red flag. It just means the honest answer today is that nobody, including us, can tell you what GTA 6 will or will not support for accessibility. We would rather leave the page thin and accurate than pad it with hopeful guesses.

Frequently asked questions

What accessibility features does GTA 6 have?

None have been announced. Rockstar has published no accessibility feature list, and the PlayStation Store listing carries no accessibility tags as of 3 September 2026.12

Will GTA 6 have colourblind modes or subtitle options?

Unconfirmed. Rockstar's earlier games offered subtitles and some contrast options, but nothing has been announced for GTA 6.3

Does GTA 6 support DualSense haptics?

Yes. The PlayStation Store listing marks vibration and trigger effects as supported for the DualSense controller.1

Where will accessibility details appear first?

Most likely the storefront listings and the Rockstar Newswire. Both are worth checking closer to launch.12

Has Rockstar said anything about GTA 6 accessibility settings?

No. Neither the official site nor Take-Two's pre-order announcement mentions accessibility, and the PlayStation Store listing carries no accessibility tags.125

What did Rockstar's last major games offer for accessibility?

Basics: control remapping, aim assist and subtitles, with Red Dead Redemption 2 adding some subtitle contrast options, but no full screen reader or extensive interface scaling.3

Could GTA 6's audience size push Rockstar toward better accessibility?

That is a reasonable hope given the scale of the franchise Take-Two describes as a top net bookings contributor, but it is not a confirmed commitment.6
