GTA 6 on PC: still not announced, and what Take-Two has said about it
There is no announced GTA 6 PC version. Take-Two lists only PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, and Zelnick says Rockstar serves console first
As of September 2026 there is no announced PC version of Grand Theft Auto VI. Not a date, not a window, not a placeholder. Take-Two's most recent forward lineup table, in its August 7, 2026 earnings release, lists the game for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S on November 19, 2026 and nothing else.2 The June 2026 pre-order release names the PlayStation Store, Microsoft Store, Rockstar Games Store and retailers, with no PC storefront.3
What Take-Two has said
Asked by Bloomberg's Jason Schreier in May 2026 whether a reported Sony marketing deal was the reason PC was being skipped at launch, Strauss Zelnick said no. He described the console-first sequencing as a deliberate strategy Rockstar has followed historically: the studio starts on console because a launch like this is judged on how well it serves its core consumer first, and if that core group is not served first and best, the wider audience is not reached either.1
In the same conversation Zelnick acknowledged how large PC has become for the publisher, estimating it at roughly 45 to 50 percent of sales on a major launch, which makes the omission a scheduling decision rather than a judgement about the platform's size. Schreier's reporting also touched on the scale of resources behind the game's development, with Zelnick describing Rockstar's creative teams as being given essentially unlimited financial resources to get the game right.1
What that means in practice
A PlayStation marketing arrangement is real and separate from the platform decision: the official Grand Theft Auto VI site carries a Plays Best On PlayStation 5 line, but the Xbox Series X|S version ships the same day, so the marketing deal and the PC omission are two different things that happen to be getting reported together.14
How this compares to past Rockstar launches
Both of Rockstar's two most recent open-world releases, Grand Theft Auto V and Red Dead Redemption 2, launched on console first and reached PC only after a console-only period. Neither of those precedents confirms a timeline for a Grand Theft Auto VI PC release, but they are the pattern every piece of PC speculation about this game gets measured against, since Rockstar has never launched a mainline entry simultaneously on console and PC.1
The Schreier interview also gives some insight into why Rockstar can afford to wait: Zelnick's comment about unlimited financial resources being available to Rockstar's creative teams suggests the studio is not under the same pressure to maximise day-one revenue across every platform simultaneously that a smaller publisher would face, and can instead sequence platforms in whatever order it judges best for the game's reception.1
What would change this page
This page will update the moment Rockstar or Take-Two names a PC platform, storefront or date for Grand Theft Auto VI in an official statement. Until then, treat any PC release date circulating online, including specific months or quarters attributed to unnamed industry sources, as unconfirmed speculation rather than something this site will repeat as fact.23
Nothing about the November 19, 2026 console launch date depends on a PC decision either way; Take-Two's filings treat the console release as the complete commercial event for now, with a PC version, if and when it comes, positioned as a separate future announcement rather than a delayed part of this one.2
Frequently asked questions
Is GTA 6 coming to PC?
Rockstar has not announced a PC version. Only PS5 and Xbox Series X|S are confirmed.23
Why is GTA 6 not on PC at launch?
Take-Two's Strauss Zelnick says Rockstar starts on console to serve its core audience first, and denies a Sony deal is the reason.1
How big is PC as a share of Rockstar's sales?
Zelnick estimated PC at roughly 45 to 50 percent of sales on a major launch, which is why the console-only start is a scheduling choice, not a sign PC is being deprioritised long term.1
