Is GTA 6 coming to PC? What Rockstar and Take-Two have actually said

GTA 6 is not on PC at launch and no PC version has been announced. Here is every on-the-record statement and what Rockstar's history suggests.

There is no PC version of Grand Theft Auto VI announced, and there is no PC release date. Rockstar's own support page answers the platform question with two names and nothing else: PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Take-Two's June 2026 press release says the same.12

What Take-Two has said on the record

In an interview with Bloomberg published in early May 2026, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick was asked directly why PC is not part of the launch. He said Rockstar always starts on console because a release like this is judged by serving the core consumer, and that if the core is not served first and best, you do not reach the other audiences either.3

The interesting part of the same conversation is the number he gave alongside it. Zelnick said that for a big title today, PC can account for 45 to 50 percent of sales, up from something closer to 5 percent when he joined the company in 2007. So the console-first decision is not being made because PC is small. It is being made because Rockstar wants a single, controlled launch platform.3

What Rockstar has said

Nothing. Rockstar has never mentioned a PC version of Grand Theft Auto VI in any Newswire post, on the official site, or in its support documentation. Every official platform statement since Trailer 1 has listed exactly two consoles.12

What history suggests, clearly labelled as inference

Speculation, not confirmation: Rockstar has a long pattern of bringing its console releases to PC later, and it clearly still invests in the platform, since GTA+ benefits are now available on PC with GTA V Enhanced. That pattern is why almost everyone expects a PC version eventually. It is not a promise, it is a pattern, and nobody outside Rockstar knows the gap.5

Not yet confirmed: whether GTA 6 comes to PC at all, when, at what price, or with what feature set. Treat every PC release date you see circulating as invented until Rockstar posts one on the Newswire.

What this means if you only own a PC

You cannot play Grand Theft Auto VI on November 19, 2026, on any hardware you own, and there is no announced wait to plan around. The only route to playing at launch is a PlayStation 5 or an Xbox Series X|S. Cloud streaming has not been announced for the game either.12

The one thing worth avoiding: sites selling PC pre-orders, early access or beta keys for a version that does not exist. There is no PC storefront listing for Grand Theft Auto VI on any platform.2

Rockstar's platform habits, for context

Rockstar does keep supporting its games long after launch, and it announces those moves the same way it announces everything else. Its February 2022 community update, which also confirmed the next Grand Theft Auto was in development, announced GTA V and GTA Online for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S with new graphics modes, up to 4K, up to 60 frames per second and ray tracing, taking a 2013 game into a third console generation.4

That is the relevant precedent: Rockstar returns to platforms on its own schedule and announces each step, rather than committing in advance. Nothing about that pattern tells you when a PC version arrives, only that Rockstar would say so on the Newswire when it decides.4

What to watch for

A real PC announcement would show up in three places more or less at once: a Rockstar Newswire post, a storefront listing on the Rockstar Games Store and at least one third-party PC store, and system requirements. Until all three exist, there is nothing to plan around, and any specific PC date is invented.12

The full GTA V console-to-PC gap, as a labelled precedent

Speculation, not confirmation, but this is the actual historical record: Grand Theft Auto V launched on PS3 and Xbox 360 on September 17, 2013. A PC version was not released until April 14, 2015, roughly nineteen months later, and it arrived only after two of its own PC-specific delays, first from a planned January 2015 window to March 24, then from March 24 to April 14, with Rockstar apologising both times and citing the need for more polish. If Grand Theft Auto VI follows a similar shape, a PC release, if one happens at all, would not be a launch-week companion; it would be a separate project announced and delayed on its own schedule, long after the console release.6

Why that gap existed, as far as anyone has said

Neither Rockstar nor Take-Two has ever given a detailed public reason for the GTA V PC gap beyond the same polish framing used for console delays. What is on the record is that the eventual PC version shipped with features the console originals never got, including up to 4K resolution, higher frame rates and triple-monitor support, which suggests the extra time went toward more than a straight port. Whether Grand Theft Auto VI's eventual PC version, if announced, would follow that same logic is unknown.6

Common misconceptions about PC and GTA 6, debunked

  • "Rockstar confirmed a PC version is in development." Not stated anywhere in Rockstar's own materials.2
  • "PC is being skipped because it's a small market." Contradicted by Take-Two's own CEO, who put PC at 45 to 50 percent of a big title's sales.3
  • "A PC date has leaked and is reliable." No date, leaked or otherwise, has ever come from Rockstar, Take-Two or a storefront.2

What would change this page

A Rockstar Newswire post naming PC, a storefront listing on Steam, the Epic Games Store or the Rockstar Games Store, or a system requirements page would each independently confirm a version is real. Until one of those three things exists, everything about a Grand Theft Auto VI PC release, including whether it exists at all, remains outside the confirmed record.12

It is worth being honest about the asymmetry here too. Console players get a confirmed date, a confirmed price and a pre-load window. PC players currently have none of that, not even a confirmed intention, and the only historical guide available is a nineteen-month gap from a previous game with a very different development history. Anyone budgeting or planning hardware purchases around a PC release should treat that gap as a floor on patience required, not a schedule, the same way GTA V's own console date only became reliable once Rockstar named a specific day rather than a season.7

Frequently asked questions

Is GTA 6 coming to PC?

Not at launch, and no PC version has been announced at all. The only confirmed platforms are PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.12

When will GTA 6 come to PC?

Unknown. Rockstar has never given a PC date or confirmed a PC version exists. Any date you see is speculation.2

Why is GTA 6 not on PC at launch?

Take-Two's CEO said Rockstar starts on console because it is judged by serving the core consumer first and best.3

Can I pre-order GTA 6 on Steam or the Epic Games Store?

No. There is no PC listing on any storefront. Sites offering PC keys are not selling an announced product.2

Is PC a small market for GTA?

No. Take-Two's CEO said PC can be 45 to 50 percent of sales for a big title, which is why the console-first choice is a strategy rather than a size question.3

How long was the gap between GTA V's console and PC release?

About nineteen months: PS3 and Xbox 360 launched September 17, 2013, and the PC version arrived April 14, 2015, after two further PC-specific delays.6
