Is GTA 6 delayed again?

No. As of October 16, 2026, there is no official sign of a third delay, and the latest signals all run the other way. The October 15 Launch Trailer post ends by restating November 19 for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. Take-Two's most recent quarterly release, filed August 7, 2026, kept its fiscal 2027 Net Bookings outlook at $8.0 to $8.2 billion, cited the November 19 launch as one reason, and still listed the game for that day in its lineup table.¹¹⁰

The next scheduled checkpoint is Take-Two's fiscal second quarter 2027 report. On October 13, 2026, the company said it will publish those results after the market closes on Monday, November 9, 2026, with a conference call at 4:30 p.m. Eastern. That is ten days before launch and three days before pre-loading opens, which makes it the last earnings release before the game ships.¹¹

The storefronts are built around the date as well. Both editions on the PlayStation Store advertise a seven-day pre-load, the pre-order bonus offer runs until 23:59:59 on November 19, and the ESRB has issued a final M for Mature 17+ rating covering PS5 and Xbox Series.¹⁴¹⁶

The full delay history

The game was announced in December 2023 with a plain 2025 target and no month. Take-Two tightened that to Fall 2025 in its May 16, 2024 earnings release, the first time any season was attached.⁴⁶

The first slip landed on May 2, 2025. Take-Two disclosed it in a standalone SEC filing saying the game, previously expected in Fall 2025, would now arrive on May 26, 2026, and Strauss Zelnick said the company backed Rockstar taking extra time to realize its creative vision. Rockstar posted its own short note on the Newswire the same day.⁷³

The second came on November 6, 2025, alongside Take-Two's fiscal second quarter 2026 results. Rockstar moved the game to November 19, 2026, again presenting the extra months as time to finish it to the standard players expect, and Take-Two's release put the new day in its lineup table. Neither announcement named a more specific cause, so anything more detailed you read about why is not on the record.²⁸

How firm is November 19?

The current date was set on November 6, 2025. By October 16, 2026 it had held for more than eleven months, nearly twice as long as the May 26, 2026 date survived. Take-Two has repeated it in its May and August 2026 releases, and in May it said fiscal 2027 would set record operating results driven by the November 19 launch, on top of the $6.72 billion in Net Bookings it reported for fiscal 2026.⁹¹⁰

The company's fiscal 2026 annual report shows why it treats the date so carefully. Grand Theft Auto products made up 12.4% of net revenue that year, and the risk factors warn both that results depend on the timing of releases and that development problems can cause delays and extra costs. A filing like that is a legal document, which is exactly why its repeated references to November 19 carry weight.¹⁷

Precedent, not a promise: Grand Theft Auto V followed a similar path. Rockstar first gave it a Spring 2013 window on October 30, 2012, then fixed it to September 17, 2013 on January 31, 2013, and that specific day held. GTA VI has now had two fixed days, so the pattern is a reason for confidence rather than proof.¹⁸¹⁹

PC, PS4 and Switch 2: still not announced

Grand Theft Auto VI is a PS5 and Xbox Series X|S game at launch, and no other version has been announced. Take-Two's August 2026 lineup table and the ESRB's rating entry both name only those two platforms.¹⁰¹⁶ In May 2026, Zelnick said Rockstar launches first for its core console audience, which is why PC players have to wait, and he gave no PC date.²⁰

For context, GTA V's PC version also arrived long after the console release and was itself pushed back to April 2015, roughly a year and a half after the September 2013 console launch. That is history, not a schedule for GTA VI.²¹

Pre-load and launch day

Pre-loading opens at midnight local time on November 12, 2026, for digital pre-orders. The boxed version contains a download code rather than a disc, and it goes on sale the same day so code buyers can pre-load too. On PlayStation, those codes only work on an account from the matching region group.¹²¹³

Rockstar has not announced an unlock time. The US PlayStation Store and the US Xbox Store both store the release as 05:00 UTC on November 19, which is midnight Eastern and 9 p.m. Pacific on November 18. Launch day also closes the pre-order offer: the Vintage Vice City Pack and the free GTA+ month are tied to purchases made before the end of November 19, and the PlayStation version of that GTA+ month must be redeemed by March 31, 2027.
