Bravado Banshee in GTA 6: the Viper-style sports car in Trailer 2

The Bravado Banshee is back for GTA 6, spotted in Trailer 2 traffic. Dodge Viper roots, a series history stretching to GTA III, and open questions

Updated September 3, 2026 · 5 min read · 7 sources

The Banshee is one of the oldest performance nameplates in Grand Theft Auto and it survives into GTA 6. The Drive picked it out of a daylight Vice City intersection shot in Trailer 2, sitting in stopped traffic alongside a Porsche-styled Pfister and a Mercedes-styled Benefactor13.

Real-world inspiration

The Banshee has always been the series' Dodge Viper, and the GTA 6 car keeps that identity with the long bonnet, side-exit exhaust cues and cab-rearward stance of the second-generation car24. GTABase lists the inspiration simply as the Dodge Viper, which is as specific as the community reading gets from trailer footage2.

Series history

GTABase traces the Banshee through GTA III, Vice City, San Andreas, Liberty City Stories, Vice City Stories, GTA IV and GTA V, making it one of a small handful of cars that has appeared in essentially every mainline entry since 20012. It sits under Bravado, the Dodge analogue that also covers the Buffalo, the Bison and the Gauntlet2.

Why it belongs in Vice City

A Viper is a period-correct choice for a Miami-styled setting in a way it never quite was for Los Santos. Trailer 2 stacks its traffic shots with exactly this kind of loud, slightly dated American performance car, which is a deliberate contrast to the European supercars parked outside the nightclubs13.

What we do not know

  • Whether the GTA 6 Banshee is a new-generation redesign or an updated version of the GTA V car2
  • Whether the Banshee 900R tuner variant from GTA Online returns2
  • Price, top speed and handling. No GTA 6 stats have been published2
  • Which mod shop parts are available for it2

Where it appears, scene by scene

The Drive's own frame-by-frame of Trailer 2 places the Banshee stopped in a daylight Vice City intersection, a couple of car-lengths from a Pfister Comet standing in for a Porsche 911 and an updated Schafter reading as a Mercedes S-Class, which is the clearest evidence yet that Rockstar built that shot specifically to stack recognizable, era-appropriate performance cars together3. Nothing in either trailer or in the coverage of Rockstar's later Extended Look puts the Banshee at the center of a mission beat; every sighting so far is background traffic13.

The real car behind it

The Viper the Banshee has always echoed went through a genuine second act in 1996, when Dodge introduced the SR II generation. Most of the running gear carried over from the original RT/10, but partway through that generation's run Dodge added a fixed-roof GTS coupe with a distinctive double-bubble roofline to clear helmeted drivers, and pushed the V10 to 450 horsepower and 490 lb-ft, good for a claimed 180 mph top speed and a 0-60 time around 4.5 seconds5. Both the RT/10 and the GTS stayed in production through 2002, and that coupe's cab-rearward proportions and side-exit exhaust are the details GTABase and autoevolution both point to when they call the in-game Banshee a Viper rather than any other American sports car245.

Brand history in the GTA series

GTA Wiki's Bravado entry describes the brand as GTA's closest analogue to Dodge, with almost its entire catalogue, from the Buffalo standing in for the Charger to the Gauntlet reading as a Challenger, drawing on the same source, and even Bravado's bull logo is written up as a nod to Dodge's Ram emblem6. The wiki also carries an in-universe detail worth knowing: Bravado's GTA Online advertising has the company nearly going bankrupt around 2013 before a taxpayer-funded bailout, a fairly direct joke about the real 2008-2010 US auto industry crisis6. Against that backdrop, the Banshee has always been positioned as the brand's halo performance model rather than its bread-and-butter product, which the Buffalo and Gauntlet cover instead26.

What earlier GTA games did with this model

GTABase's own tally has the Banshee appearing in GTA III, Vice City, San Andreas, Liberty City Stories, Vice City Stories, GTA IV and GTA V, making it one of only a handful of cars that has shown up in essentially every mainline release since 20012. GTA Online later added a tuner-styled Banshee 900R with a widebody kit and a much higher performance ceiling, sold as a heavily upgraded spin-off of the base car rather than a replacement for it2.

What we expect in GTA 6

Rockstar's general comments on the new vehicle systems describe a tiered theft model, where a WAINK scanner tool tells a player how hard a given car will be to steal before they commit, and where mod work happens at specialized shops rather than one universal garage7. A Viper-style Banshee sitting in ordinary street traffic, as it does in Trailer 2, reads as a mid-tier target under that kind of system: valuable and flashy, but not obviously alarmed the way a background supercar would be17. That is inference from Rockstar's general remarks about the theft and customization systems, not anything said about the Banshee by name.

Community theories

The open argument among trackers is whether this is a clean-sheet redesign or the GTA V Banshee carried forward with a graphics pass, since GTABase's own listing does not settle the question either way, and whether the 900R tuner variant survives the jump to GTA 6 at all2. A smaller thread of discussion looks at the original first-generation Viper from 1992, which the series never modeled directly; some longtime fans argue the GTA 6 car's slightly softer nose is a nod back to that earlier, less angular RT/10 rather than purely the SR II generation, though GTABase's own write-up does not make that distinction25. There is also mild disagreement over how common the car should be in traffic given how many GTA 6 trailer shots already feature it, with some trackers reading that repetition as a sign the Banshee is meant to be a readily available purchase rather than a rare exotic, which would match how accessible the Viper always was for a series performance car13.

Not yet confirmed: performance. Any Banshee top speed you see quoted for GTA 6 is carried over from GTA Online, not from the new game.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Banshee in GTA 6?

What Dodge Viper generation inspired the GTA 6 Banshee?

The look most closely matches the second-generation SR II Viper and its GTS coupe, introduced in 19965.

Does the Banshee 900R return in GTA 6?

Unconfirmed. The 900R is a GTA Online tuner variant, and no trailer or preview has shown it for GTA 62.

What other Dodge-style cars does Bravado make in GTA?

The Buffalo (Charger), the Gauntlet (Challenger) and the Bison are among Bravado's other Dodge-inspired models across the series6.
