GTA 6 Klose K17: Lucia's pistol and the full-auto question

Rockstar named the Klose K17 as Lucia's sidearm. What the Glock lookalike is, where it appears, and why the full-auto talk is still guesswork

The Klose K17 is Lucia's sidearm, and like Jason's Girardi ES9 it is one of the very few GTA 6 weapons named by Rockstar rather than by a journalist with a zoom tool. The pre-order material lists personalised sidearms with detailed engravings for both protagonists' pistols, and the official editions page groups them under personalised weapon variants.123

Where it has been seen

GamesRadar points to an official screenshot of Lucia preparing to face an armed intruder, which gives a close look at the K17 in her hands.4 PC Gamer describes it as Lucia's pistol of choice while noting there is no obvious reason Jason could not also carry it, though that has not been confirmed either way.5

The Glock resemblance

The shape is a striker-fired polymer-framed service pistol, and PC Gamer identifies it as based on the Glock 17, which is where the 17 in the name almost certainly comes from.5 GTABase's community database hedges slightly, listing the K17 as drawing on the Glock 17 and the SIG Sauer P320.6 Klose is a new in-universe manufacturer name for the series.6

About that full-auto switch

You will see claims that the K17 supports a switch that turns it fully automatic. That idea traces back to writers wondering about it rather than to anything Rockstar has shown. PC Gamer explicitly frames it as curiosity, saying it is unclear whether the pistol can be upgraded to fire automatically.5 Until an attachment menu is shown, treat full-auto as speculation, not a feature.5

The Ultimate Edition version

The bonus finish for Lucia's pistol is engraved with roses and her signature, a mirror of the Sua Sponte engraving on Jason's ES9.4 The engraving is cosmetic as far as anyone can tell, and Rockstar has not suggested the personalised variants perform any differently from the base guns.14

The real Glock 17 behind the K17

The polymer-framed shape press outlets keep comparing the K17 to traces back to Gaston Glock, an Austrian engineer with a background in synthetic polymers rather than firearms, who assembled a team of handgun specialists in 1982 to answer an Austrian army tender for a new duty pistol.7 The prototype reportedly beat out submissions from Heckler & Koch, SIG Sauer, Beretta, FN Herstal and Steyr Mannlicher within months, and the finished Glock 17 went on to be adopted by armed forces and police departments in dozens of countries, including most police agencies in the United States and the FBI.7 Its striker-fired Safe Action trigger, polymer frame and simple parts count made it cheap to produce and easy to maintain, which is exactly the profile that made it a template other manufacturers, real and fictional, keep copying.7

GTA has already done a full-auto pistol

The full-auto speculation around the K17 is not coming out of nowhere, even if nothing confirms it applies here. GTA V and Online already sell a genuinely automatic sidearm, the Vom Feuer AP Pistol, which fires at 600 rounds per minute or drops to a 3-round burst mode, holds 18 rounds standard, and unlocks at Rank 33 for $5,000.9 So a full-auto handgun is not a new idea for this series, it already exists under a different manufacturer's name, which is likely part of why writers keep wondering whether the K17 gets the same treatment rather than dismissing the idea outright.95

Klose next to an established name

As with Jason's Girardi ES9, the K17 is arriving next to a manufacturer that already has a track record in the series. GTA Wiki describes Hawk & Little as branding itself the largest firearms manufacturer in the United States, protecting Americans from each other since 1850, and credits it with several of GTA V and Online's handguns.8 Klose has no such history attached to it; it reads as a new name introduced specifically for GTA VI, matching Girardi.86

More on where and how it's carried

GTA Wiki's entry adds detail beyond the single screenshot GamesRadar cites: the K17 shows up as the default sidearm for both Lucia and Jason, and also as standard issue for VCPD/VBPD officers and for gang members in footage that has circulated, which suggests it functions as GTA VI's baseline handgun the way the plain Pistol did in GTA V.10 The site also notes the pistol carries visible 9mm markings and reports that build files reference it internally as PISTOL_POLYMER, a working name that predates Klose K17 being settled on; treat that specific detail as unofficial development trivia rather than a confirmed fact, since it comes from community file research rather than a Rockstar statement.10 Separately, Rockstar's own Extended Look showed Lucia wielding a weapon one-handed while carrying cash or another item in her other hand, which is the kind of moment a compact pistol like the K17 is built for.11

GTA Wiki also lists a visible serial number, KL1701, in the promotional screenshots used to identify the pistol, the kind of small production detail that has become common across GTA VI's named weapons and that fans use to cross-check whether two screenshots show the same gun.10 Combined with the AP Pistol precedent, it is easy to see why full-auto speculation attached itself to the K17 specifically rather than to, say, a revolver: it already looks like the kind of compact, modern pistol the series has made automatic before, even though Rockstar itself has shown no attachment or upgrade menu for it.910

What is not confirmed

  • Damage, magazine size, fire modes or price. Nothing published.56
  • Whether the full-auto switch exists at all.5
  • Whether both protagonists can carry either sidearm.5
  • Whether the base K17 is available without the Ultimate Edition.13
Not yet confirmed: the Klose K17's stats, attachments, or any full-auto capability. Only the name, the owner and the engraved finish come from Rockstar.

Frequently asked questions

What pistol does Lucia use in GTA 6?

The Klose K17. Rockstar names it in the Ultimate Edition material, and it is visible in a screenshot of Lucia facing an armed intruder.14

Can the Klose K17 be made fully automatic?

There is no evidence of it. The idea comes from journalists speculating about a switch-style attachment, and Rockstar has shown no weapon modification menu.5

Is the Klose K17 based on a real gun?

Press coverage identifies it as a Glock 17 style pistol with some SIG Sauer P320 influence. The real Glock 17 was developed in Austria by Gaston Glock and introduced in 1982.57

Has GTA had a full-auto pistol before?

Yes. GTA V and Online's Vom Feuer AP Pistol already fires fully automatic or in 3-round bursts, so the idea is not new to the series even though nothing confirms the K17 works the same way.9

Does only Lucia carry the Klose K17?

No. GTA Wiki's tracking of screenshots and footage shows VCPD/VBPD officers and gang members carrying it too, alongside both Lucia and Jason, which points to it being GTA VI's default handgun rather than a Lucia-exclusive weapon.10
