GTA 6 Hawk & Little Morgan revolver: the his and hers Ultimate Edition gun

The Hawk & Little Morgan revolver is the headline weapon of the Grand Theft Auto VI Ultimate Edition, and one of only three GTA 6 guns Rockstar has named in its own material. The official editions page lists Hawk & Little Morgan Revolvers among the Ultimate Edition contents.¹²

What Rockstar says about it

The pre-order description covers a his and hers pair of the same powerful revolver, finished with classic Vice City styling described as sourced from the Vercetti Estate, with palm trees etched into the grips, engraved detailing and a high-performance scope.³ That last part is the interesting bit: a scoped revolver is unusual for this series and hints at a long-range hand cannon rather than a backup pistol.³⁴

The engravings and the Easter eggs

GamesRadar picked out the personalised details from the artwork: Jason's is engraved J. Duval and Lucia's L. Caminos, and a separate piece of key art shows VC engraved near the hammer on Lucia's revolver, presumably for Vice City.⁴ PC Gamer goes further, reporting that the unique serial numbers on the two revolvers reference the release dates of Grand Theft Auto: Vice City and Vice City Stories.⁵ Neither detail affects how the gun shoots.⁴⁵

Hawk & Little is not a new name

Unlike Girardi and Klose, Hawk & Little is an established manufacturer inside the Grand Theft Auto universe, credited on weapons in GTA 5 as well.⁷ Bringing it back for the Ultimate Edition revolver keeps GTA 6's branded hardware anchored to series history rather than starting from scratch.⁷⁶

What it is based on

PC Gamer identifies the Morgan as a revolver modelled on the Smith & Wesson Model 629, the stainless steel .44 Magnum, and community databases agree on the same family.⁵⁶ That would put it in the same bracket as the heavy revolvers Grand Theft Auto has used before: slow, loud and lethal in one or two hits. Rockstar has published no figures to confirm any of that.⁵⁶

The real Smith & Wesson behind the Morgan

The Model 29 that gives the Morgan its shape dates to 1955, when Smith & Wesson began building it around the .44 Magnum cartridge that hunter and cartridge developer Elmer Keith had pushed for as a round for hunters of large, dangerous game rather than a self-defense caliber.⁸ It stayed a niche product until Dirty Harry made Clint Eastwood's Model 29 famous in 1971, after which retailers reportedly struggled to keep it in stock.⁸ The stainless steel Model 629 variant followed in the late 1970s.⁸ GTA Wiki's breakdown of the in-game Morgan gets specific about which real gun informs which half of the his-and-hers pair: Lucia's barrel styling is drawn from the Model 629 Classic, while Jason's takes its barrel and grip design from the older blued Model 29.¹² It is a detail that only shows up if you compare the two revolvers side by side, and it fits the personalised, matched-set idea Rockstar is selling with the Ultimate Edition bonus.¹¹²

Hawk & Little's history in the series

Unlike Girardi or Klose, Hawk & Little is not new to GTA VI. GTA Wiki describes the in-universe company pitching itself as the largest firearms manufacturer in the United States, protecting Americans from each other since 1850, and credits it with a wide chunk of GTA V and Online's arsenal: the Combat Pistol, the standard Pistol, the Heavy Revolver, Bullpup Rifle variants, several SMGs and the Homing Launcher, plus aircraft-mounted .50 caliber guns and non-lethal tear gas and flares.⁹ It also sponsors liveries on cars like the Swinger and the Impaler.⁹ The brand's own logo is close to Smith & Wesson's, which lines up with the 1850s founding date GTA Wiki notes for both the fictional and real company, while the Hawk & Little name itself is generally read as an echo of Heckler & Koch.⁹ Handing the Ultimate Edition's showpiece revolver to this established brand, rather than to a brand-new name like Girardi or Klose, keeps the game's flagship pre-order weapon anchored to lore players already know.⁹⁶

Revolvers before the Morgan

GTA has used two other named revolvers in the HD Universe, and both help frame what the Morgan is doing differently. The Heavy Revolver, added in the Executives and Other Criminals update, is a single-action design styled after the ASG Dan Wesson airsoft replica line with some Taurus Raging Bull influence on the barrel, sells for $5,900 at Ammu-Nation, and notably cannot take any attachments at all.¹⁰ The Double-Action Revolver, added free through a Treasure Hunt in the Doomsday Heist update, is modeled on the Colt M1892, comes gold-plated with floral engraving and pearl grips reading D.D.P and Repeating Arms Co., and doubles as a Red Dead Redemption 2 promotional tie-in, sharing that game's firing sound.¹¹ Against that history, a factory-scoped, engraved his-and-hers pair is new ground: GTA revolvers have been either plain and unmoddable or ornately promotional, but not built around a scope before.¹⁰¹¹³

A Vice City timeline wrinkle

Kotaku flagged a lore snag in the Vercetti Estate framing that is worth knowing about. Rockstar's own copy says the revolver's styling is sourced from the Vercetti Estate, tying it to Tommy Vercetti's mansion in the original Vice City, but the scoped revolver design the Morgan visually echoes only appeared later, in Vice City Stories under the name the Equalizer, a game set before the original Vice City in the series' internal timeline.¹³ That makes it awkward for Vercetti to have owned this specific scoped model by the time of the first game.¹³ Kotaku also points out that the serial number on Jason's revolver, 311006, reading as 31 October 2006, is Vice City Stories' real release date rather than the original Vice City's, which suggests Rockstar's own team quietly knows which game the design actually comes from even if the marketing copy blurs it.¹³³
