Ambrosia's heading is "Keeping Leonida Sweet", which given the copy underneath it reads as a threat as much as a slogan¹. Rockstar's own screenshot captions sketch the tone: the Ambrosia skyline at night dominated by smoke stacks, a motorcycle gang in matching leather vests riding in formation down a road, a field of crops burning at sunset, a woman with her arm around a man displaying the handgun she is holding, and a man sitting in a car while several women in bikinis wash it¹.

The one-company town

PC Gamer reads Ambrosia as the classic American one-company town, where a single industrial entity employs and effectively controls everything, and names the biker gang that fills the gap as the Final Chapter². GamesRadar makes the same point more bluntly: there is nothing sweet about Ambrosia except the refinery's output, and stepping out of line means answering to the bikers who run the place³.

Where Ambrosia sits

Rockstar places Ambrosia in the heart of Leonida, inland rather than on either coast¹. PC Gamer's map coverage notes Rockstar has attached a mod shop in Lake Leonida to the region's Ultimate Edition content, which puts a large inland lake nearby². Trailer 2's road signs include Ambrosia among the destinations Jason passes while driving, confirming that it is a signposted, drivable destination rather than a cutscene-only backdrop⁴.

The real-world inspiration

Rockstar has not named a real town. Florida's actual sugar industry is concentrated inland around Lake Okeechobee, which is the obvious parallel for a refinery town built beside a large lake, and community mapping puts Ambrosia in a fictional county they match to Florida's sugar-growing interior⁵. That identification is community work built partly on leaked material, so it is not a confirmed fact⁵².

Trailer 2's driving sequence places Ambrosia in a run of signage alongside Downtown, VCI Airport and Southside, all passed in quick succession as Jason drives, which suggests Ambrosia is reachable within a single continuous drive from Vice City rather than sitting in an isolated corner of the map⁴. That is a small detail, but it argues against Ambrosia being a late-game-only destination locked behind story progress⁴¹.

What is still unknown

Community trackers place Ambrosia in a fictional county matched to Hendry County, part of Florida's real inland sugar belt, and note the region sits beside the large lake community mapping calls Lake Leonida⁵. Some fan discussion connects Ambrosia's name, evoking a mythical food of the gods, to the bitter irony Rockstar's copy leans on: a company town selling sweetness while running on control and violence. That reading is textual analysis rather than a new fact, and Rockstar has not commented on the name's origin¹⁵.
