GTA 6 music and radio: every song Rockstar has actually used

Rockstar has not announced a single Grand Theft Auto VI radio station, DJ or soundtrack album. What exists is the music the studio has actually used in its three official videos, which is a much shorter and much more reliable list than the ones circulating online³.

Trailer 1

The first trailer, released on 4 December 2023, is carried by Tom Petty's Love Is a Long Road¹³. It is the song most people now associate with the game, and it did the usual trailer thing to Petty's streaming numbers.

Trailer 2

Trailer 2, released 6 May 2025, uses Hot Together by The Pointer Sisters, a 1986 track that kicks in about a minute into the video as Jason and Lucia reunite²⁴. Billboard reported the trailer sent the song's streams up by a factor of thousands within days⁴.

Three further tracks appear across the two trailers: Child Support by Zenglen, Everybody Have Fun Tonight by Wang Chung and Talkin' to Myself Again by Tammy Wynette³.

The Extended Look

The 26-minute Extended Look from 27 August 2026 is the biggest music drop so far, with fourteen identifiable tracks spanning several decades and genres⁵³. They include Pop Bottles by Birdman and Lil Wayne, Skrilla by Kodak Black, Pound Town by Sexyy Red and Tay Keith, Love Bites by Def Leppard, People Are People by Depeche Mode, Against All Odds by Phil Collins, Devil Woman by Cliff Richard, Cars and Girls by Prefab Sprout, Let Your Love Flow by The Bellamy Brothers, and Se Me Nota by Chimbala and Omega³.

An extended version of the original score cue first heard in Trailer 2 also plays during the video, and Rockstar has not released it separately³.

What the radio will look like

Almost nothing is confirmed. Preview reporting from August 2026 says the radio includes an on-demand podcast section alongside a toggle that swaps in copyright-safe music for streamers, which is a first for the series⁶. Beyond that, no station names, presenters or playlists have come from Rockstar³.

Why the trailer list is not a soundtrack

Trailer licensing and in-game licensing are separate deals, and a track cleared for a two-minute video is not automatically cleared for a game that ships for a decade. Rockstar has confirmed no crossover between the two lists, so treat the songs above as evidence of the studio's taste and era range rather than as a partial tracklist³.

What the list does tell you is breadth. Across the three videos Rockstar has used 1980s rock and pop, country, Haitian kompa, Dominican dembow, contemporary Southern rap and modern dance music³. That spread points to a station lineup covering a lot of ground, which fits a game set in a city Rockstar describes as built on Cuban neighbourhoods, a recording industry and a nightlife economy³.

The music inside the story

Music is not only a radio feature here, it is part of the plot. Rockstar's own character profiles build a whole strand of the story around Only Raw Records, the label Boobie Ike runs with Dre'Quan Priest, and around Real Dimez, a duo chasing a second hit after an early single with a local rapper called DWNPLY⁵. Official screenshots show recording studio sessions and video shoots⁵.

That is worth flagging because it means some of GTA VI's music will be written for the game and performed by fictional artists, in the way earlier Rockstar games produced original in-world tracks. None of it has been released or named⁵.

The in-world media Rockstar has already built around Leonida

Music is not the only piece of in-fiction media Rockstar has confirmed. Its Ultimate Edition listing describes a capsule apparel collection "inspired by the Goodtime State's hit TV show character, Macca the Gator"⁷. Two things stand out. First, "Goodtime State" is Rockstar's own in-fiction nickname for Leonida, distinct from any name it has given the map itself. Second, Macca the Gator is confirmed to be a television character with actual pop-culture presence inside the game's world, popular enough to support a real-world-facing merchandise line, which is the same kind of layered, in-world celebrity treatment radio DJs and station idents get in earlier Grand Theft Auto games⁷.

What that predicts about the radio, cautiously

A television mascot with his own gear line suggests Rockstar is building broadcast media in Leonida with the same care it is putting into the music choices already confirmed. That is an inference, not a confirmation: Rockstar has not said Macca the Gator appears on the radio, in adverts, or anywhere beyond the described merchandise, so treat this as evidence that in-world broadcast satire is coming, not as a station name⁷.

The scale a GTA radio has hit before

GTA V is the benchmark for what a finished Grand Theft Auto radio actually contains, and it sets expectations high. Rockstar licensed more than 241 tracks spread across fifteen music stations, plus two additional talk-radio stations, and commissioned original score work from a team that included Tangerine Dream, Woody Jackson and Flying Lotus, who built an entire station, FlyLo FM, around his own material⁸. Against that scale, the roughly twenty songs Rockstar has used across three marketing videos for GTA VI is not a partial tracklist, as this page already stresses, it is closer to a trailer for a much larger licensing effort still entirely under wraps.

That comparison also explains why we will not estimate a station count for GTA VI. Fifteen stations is not a rule, it is one data point from one previous game, and Rockstar has never announced a target number for any title in advance. The only honest projection is that a radio built at GTA V's scale is achievable for this studio, not that GTA VI will match it exactly⁸.
